Poll - CM behavior when paused

When CM is running a program, hitting the Spacebar will invoke the Pause button. This is great, much easier than hunting by mouse.

Once Paused, what should CM do if you hit the Spacebar again? Right now, it invokes the Emergency Stop, i.e., CM drops the connection to the machine, and you have to Initialize to continue.

On the plus side, that gives pretty quick access to Emergency Stop without having to mouse around. But, the best E Stop is one that cuts power, not one in software.

On the minus side, all my experience with ‘Pause’ behavior in other situations is that it acts like a toggle - hitting it a second time should ‘unpause’, whatever that means in that context.

CM Behaviour when Paused - Spacebar
  • Do Nothing
  • Start
  • Stop (same as Yellow Stop button)
  • Emergency Stop (same as Red Stop button)

It should bring up a confirmation dialog box, which gives you the option to Run or Stop…And if you don’t explicitly Select Run, it defaults on Stop…So a triple Spacebar hit will Emergency Stop. A Spacebar-Spacebar-Tab-Spacebar will Run again

But that’s just how I think it should work.
