Have you considered a UPS? A lot of industrial shops use them to save trashing their work in process should commercial power fail. Some go as far as having large battery banks that can run for several minutes while standby generators are brought on line.

I do have a 1.5kW spindle + VFD connected to a regular outlet whose wiring connects to a Siemens plugin-on neutral service panel and a CAFCI/GFCI breaker. It has no issues and obviously would fully meet code.
