I have been working on some 1960’s Postal Box Doors to make 3 piggy banks. I have the cases done and the back rabbeted. I carved a hole in the top to drop money into. I am considering putting an eagle on at least one of them on the two sides. I will reverse so the eagle is pointing to the front.
I used my SO3 on the front today to carve the money drop and an escutcheon simulation.
Here is a pic of what the boxes will eventually look like when finished.
Here is the back. I make an escape hatch so in the future if the combination is lost they can get in. If you have the door open you can figure out the combination. If the door is locked it is very hard to open. I may engrave the combination on the bottom. This bank is not Fort Knox. Just for fun.a
I have made some of these banks before and found 3 small and 1 large set of doors at a resale shop. Figured out the combination and need to polish up the bronze/brass to make it shinny.
