Prematurely closed topic?

Rotary device for a nomad was closed 2 hours after I replied to it. But it does look like 30 days after it was created, as if all the replies weren’t registered in the system.

Could you Carbide3D folks please re-open it please? thank you

Otherwise, if I’ve become posting Kryptonite I’d appreciate knowing too… :astonished:

#done.

Just let us know and we can re-open topics at need.

The closing time, by default is 30 days after the first post.

No worries, the topics are closed after 30 days regardless of replies. It’s fairly annoying and has been commented on before but :man_shrugging:

It actually closed 2 minutes before I hit reply (I’ve got updates :slightly_smiling_face:) so I’ve already requested it be re-opened :beers:

As far as I know there’s no kryptonite going on. I’d expect a message or something from staff if that were the case…though usually comments of that severity tend to be deleted outright instead of just closing a topic. We’re probably fine…hopefully :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I appreciate the ongoing interest in this silly little project. Keeps the momentum up!

Edit: staff can feel free to correct any assumptions I’ve made here :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh, I didn’t realize that, Will. Thank you for re-opening it.

How does the What did you cut on your Shapeoko/ Nomad today? stay perpetually open? Just wondering…

My understanding is that latter doesn’t have a timer on it, because it predates those being put in place.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to close 30 days after the LAST post rather than the first?

Agree with @Stankus and that’s actually how I thought it worked since it would keep active threads alive and allow the slow ones to end. Rather than having an arbitrary 30 day period for all posts, regardless of activity.

This reply in another thread indicates that posts should close 30 days after last reply.

Perhaps that topic was created just before they checked all the settings - they did say that changes do not apply to existing topics.

@mhotchin, the topic in question was created this October 18, and Rob’s post you quoted was from September 2023, so go figure. Thank you for finding that though, I thought I had read somewhere about closing 30 days from last reply. But it’s not a world-changing issue as long as topics can be re-opened…

Thank you to the C3D crew for attending to the topic expiry issue!

This topic is now flagged

(hovering over the expiry line will give the current closure date/time)

The Rotary device for a nomad topic is flagged

The Connector Orientation? topic is flagged

so it seems to be situational…
