Problem with probing

I’m not sure if this is a machine issue or a software issue. First off I don’t own a machine designed for this software so I’ve had to learn how to adapt it to mine. I use all Openbuild controller and interface. But ran into a problem the other day after I set the XYZ hight with the probe I started the project and the 1/23 bit wouldn’t touch the surface of the wood. It would follow the programing but it took several times running before it actually started cutting. I’ve never run into this issue before. Thank you in advance for any input.

It’s tough to tell without seeing your entire process, programming - setup - execution…

Do you use a Bottom Z zero? If so, the stock may not be the same height as designed/programmed.
Is the stock clamped securely, and is the top perfectly flat?
If you’re using a bitzero / probe to set the Z zero, do you check the top surface before cutting?

I use the Openbuilds XYZ touch probe Like this one

I’ve never had this issue before kind of threw me for a loop i would say. I was running a test pattern. I’ve been practicing my inlays plugs on cheap pine so I would guess the wood was most likly warped a little. It was securely clamped to the waste board I have ran many project using the current V8 and my setup. JUSt never see that happen before. . Ill check the board for flatness. Thank you
