Problems with spendle not starting

I have a Shapoko v4 xxl with the Shapoko/carbide 3d spindle and VFD.

I have been unable to work for several months because of illness. When I last used the CNC, it was working flawlessly. This morning I tried to run a job and the spindle would not start up. I went into CARBIDE MOTION MDI and tried to run some M03 SXXXX and got no response from the spindle, Another weirdness was that the VFD display showed some weird output. in no case did the spindle turn at all…

m03 s1800 showed 380 on the display
m03 s1000 showed 260 on the display
m03 s3000 showed 450 on the display

I ran an m05 after each attempt just to clear the command.

I then ran all the movement commands to make sure the CNC was functional and it performed as expected.

I used contact cleaner to clean the contacts on both the VFD and the spindle.

if the spindle or VFD are faulty, i will have to go back to using a router which would not be my preference. Several months of sickness have left me with minimal resources. I love this machine and really hope someone can offer me some guidance. I’ve always received excellant help before and hope to tap that well again.

Thanks in advance’

Just as a sanity check, add another zero to those S numbers. My min speed is 8000 and it won’t turn on for anything under 4000. The VFD display may not be displaying RPM, it likely has several display modes (Hz, Volts, …)

Thanks Tod, i completely forgot about the 4000 rpm min. tried it again with more appropriate numbers but still no joy, The display numbers changed, but still nothing like what I requested and the spindle didn’t budge.

When i received my spindle from carbide, it came with instructions to connect, but no info about the control buttons on the front of the device so have no clue what any of them do, Yesterday i played around with the buttons and found that I could cause the spindle to turn relatively slowly ( but not nearly what I would need) but I cant really tell you what combinations allowed that) and this tells me that the spindle is functional and that the connection between the VFD and the spindle seems to be there.

Do you have the Carbide provided VFD and spindle? I tried to find some model number or brand on the VFD with no luck. I’m hopping that someone from C3D sees this thread and chimes in.

The delay in my response was due to a gang attack of tornadoes only few miles from me that took out my internet.
