This was a idea I had to use 2 different woods. Should have kept better notes but here is what I have. Created a curve in VCarve and created different widths using the same curve. Cut them on 2 different woods (mahogany and tigerwood). Glued them up to make a rectangular blank, flattened it and made the dish in the pictures.

I “tried” to make something similar. My issue was I did not get the waves to match up perfectly. Yours looks great. I will be making a bowl from a board with this so it still may work out. The piece I made is purpleheart and maple with epoxy in between the waves.
I have a tenon glued to the bottom. It is on my todo list.
The beauty of the design is the irregular thickness of the strips.
I did the same sort of thing at first. Then discovered that each “wave” had to be cut individually via Profile Outside edge cut. Then they all matched.
