Hey all, just throwing it out there but I had few questions
What is the proper sequence of starting your shapeoko and shutting down your shapeoko?
There’s a power switch on the spindle. There’s a power switch on the machine and there’s also the emergency power switch and I just want to make sure I shut down and start my machine in order properly. Just so not wrecking anything or maybe it doesn’t make a difference. I’m not sure
The machine doesn’t come with an operating or owner’s manual or at least mine didn’t for the shapeoko 5 pro.
And it would be nice to know the proper operating systems. Also proper maintenance like oils, lube or anything like that
Always press the Spindle Enable button to disable the spindle and flip the power switch on the side of the VFD controller to turn it off when done cutting
EDIT: Checking w/ folks I was told:
When the spindle is turned on and spinning never turn it off by the power switch. You need to stop it first before shutting off the electric power in order to avoid damage to the control board.
Trust me , You will have homing issues galore and alarm 8 etc. unplug it like a poor man resetting the battery to fix the check engine light on your truck.
What is strange is how after countless times of turning on a Laguna Cnc at work, I have never had an issue with homing, when I hit all home Axis button. No matter where is got left on table or was shut off at. the Pro 5 gets lost fairly often depending on where it is on table after power down.
I haven’t had an issue with homing after shutting down and powering up as of right now, but thanks for letting me know. This could be an issue down the road
I have even let pro 5 Idle on without running anything for say 45 min and it got lost when using Rapid position. I then unplug blet set for 5 to 10 min , and re initiate and all good.
I try to always make sure to power down with machine or spindle location far back right corner. seems to work better. Few times I powered down with it in far back middle is where I ran into homing troubles and alarms.
