When setting up do I need to do any type of system reset before adding it to my computer? I’m watching set up video now but it comes at things from a totally brand new machine perspective. So just checking before I start connecting anything.

No reset of the SPRO controller needed.
All parameters stored in the controller are applicable to the machines operation.
And actually, when you go through the Carbide Motion machine setup wizard, it essentially resets all parameters to default state when the setup sends configuration data to the controller.

You can probably skip downloading Grbl settings, but it won’t do any harm to send the correct ones.
