Question about cutting a round bottom slot

I want to make a walnut Cigar Ashtray but I’m not sure how to cut the round bottom slots around the edge for the cigars to lay in. I still haven’t done anything in v carving or 3d. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have Carbide Create Pro? If so, they can be modeled in 3D using that, otherwise you have to use a suitable ball-nosed tool.

If you’re making multiple, it might be worth it to buy a large ball endmill out a core box router bit.

I do have CC Pro. I’ve just never used the 3d modeling or any of the V Carve functions.

This thread might be useful, cigar tray using CC Pro
