Quickest way to swap molex pins?

I got my Shapeoko Pro today, and everything has been going fine except for initial homing. The Z ended up crashing into the waste board on the very first plunge and I have discovered that the cable inside the drag chain has the cables all swapped out. I’d love to try and run it tonight.

Is there a way to remove the pins from these tiny connectors? All of my smallest needles and knowledge of these connectors is failing.

The Micro-Fit connectors require a special tool to disassemble — write in to support@carbide3d.com and we’ll work out sending your replacements.

And while you’re waiting, just cut and splice the wires correctly about and inch from the connector. If you get a replacement cable from C3D, the old spliced one won’t matter anyway!

As Will said, there’s a special (and fragile) tool. Removing them is destructive anyway, you’d have to cut it off and crimp on a new one.

For those of us working on assembling our machines for the first time, how can I tell if I was one of the lucky ones who got cables with the pins swapped?

Contact us at support@carbide3d.com and send us photos — the big thing is that the wiring order should match, if it doesn’t, then the wiring is a problem.

I think in general though, you will have a hard time removing a pin and reusing it. It’s not as graceful as something like a JST-XH.
