Raise of hands for those using CC Pro

has Rest Machining with Pro changed your carves? Truly effected your machine time?

I have used the rest machining a couple of times. The only advantage is you can use the larger bit for faster hogging of material but then the small bit takes time to go around the missed spots. So as far as time saved I dont think that is effective. Depending on how much smaller of a bit you start with and the time saved only testing would tell. The advantage is you can use a small bit to get into the corners that the larger bit missed.

I like using rest machining personally I like being able to hog out a big surface area with the quarter and come back and do some smaller detailing.
I used a 1/4 for all the removal but in those inner spots on the letters my 1/4 never would have fit so going down to an 1/8 opens that up alot

Depends on what you’re comparing. I just did a quick test for a guy on Facebook who was doing a 24" x 144" tiled sign. Just a (very large) string of letters. Pocketing the whole thing with an 1/8" was reporting something like 3 days. 1/4" then 1/8 rest milling was 2 1/2 hours.

So yes, it can save a lot of time.
