Im new to the carbide community. I am still learning my machine. I was wondering if anyone could help me out by helping me figure out how to cut raised 3d carved letters. Heres a link to what im trying to do. Thanks for any help you could give.
Since you want the letters to stand out, You could make the characters separately or remove a lot of material from the stock.
Thank you for your help. I have another question though. When i go into the model tab i can see the 3 d image of the raised areas. What i dont see is when i go into the toolpath i cant see the raised areas.os that normal? Also it doesnt give me an option for a bit to ise. Which bit should i use. Well i guess i had 2 questions.
You will need to add offset geometry and use that to define regions for the 3D toolpaths to rough out and finish the 3D model.
Which tooling you use depends on how you wish to cut things out — usually a succession of ball-nosed tooling is used, but depending on the nature of the model being cut and the desired level of finish different tooling may be used.
It is also possible to combine 3D and 2D toolpaths for this sort of thing.
Here is a project @WillAdams did for me.
