Ramp entry angle question

If I understand this correctly, the bit will enter the material completely over a distance rather than plunging directly into the material 100%… ?

I have a flat nose bit that I’d like to ease into the material as much as possible. The default setting is 20%, if I change that to 10% for example, is this a larger or smaller angle of entry?

I have a flat nose bit that is making a somewhat squealing type of sound when it first enters the material (stone) at the default setting (every time the Z depth takes another step @ 0.2mm per pass), I’d like to ‘ease’ the bit into the stone as much as possible but I am not sure of the best angle entry for this. The plunge rate is at 50, the bit is 1/8" carbide flat nose

thanks!

Ramp angle is degrees, so a higher number is steeper. 90° being a straight plunge

thanks, I was thinking that but wasn’t sure
