Ramping in 3D roughing or finishing

Hey all, I recently got a shapeoko pro and Ive been playing around in carbide create and recently in the Pro trial version. Im considering purchaing the CC Pro version!

I find it really easy to use compared to Vcarve Pro (trying that out as well). Everything I do in CC takes half the time than Vcarve. From node editing to 3d roughing and so on. I also noticed toolpath times were nearly always less in CC Pro vs Vcarve. I tried making a tray and good lord Vcarve had a total time over 8 hrs but only 1.5 hrs in CC. I’ve changed the settings and added 2 tools per pocket one for clearing and other such as 1/8in for rest machining but still takes forever. Im still a noob and probably need to spend more time playing with the settings but I thought they would be similar.

my question is there Ramping option(s) for 3d roughing and/or finishing in CC Pro cause i am not seeing it in the trial version? Vcarve has ramping in nearly every operation and I really like that. Thanks in advance.

Only Contour and Pocket toolpaths have Ramping in Carbide Create Pro as of the current version.

When you look at what a finishing toolpath does, there’s no reason for ramping. You’re generally dropping into an area of very thin material once, and then never disengaging from the material after that point. A slow plunge is all you need.

For a roughing toolpath, there’s no ramping feature. I do agree it would be nice to have though. And given the toolpathing algorithm used, it does seem like it would be possible to add. You should drop the software team a suggestion.

Thank you Will and Winston. I appreciate the responses. I might have to mention that to the software team  thanks again.
