Reducing Sweepy Suction Noise?

I replaced my ridiculous loud shop vac with a dewalt stealth sonic and wow, what a a difference. Most of the noise i hear now is the suction of air passing through the sweepy. I was just wondering if anyone had come up with any tips or tricks to reduce the noise at the sweepy stage?

Ha, that’s one way. I had my shapeoko in the garage before so i never really paid attention to noise but I’ve now moved it into the house and trying to reduce the noise as much as possible without making an encloser.

I mentioned the same thing in the thread about the stealthsonic the other day. I found that the regular sweepy was super noisy but the deep sweep is nice and quiet.

I prefer the deep version most of the time anyway. With the regular I was moving the mount up and down constantly but I don’t with the deep version.

The main difference from a sound perspective are that the regular has a hard right angle whereas the deep has a swoop

EDIT: in the house? Not married I guess?

What sort of hose are you using?

A 2.5" straight hose seems markedly less noisy, and as noted, a Deep Sweep (if spindle and tool geometry allow) seems to also reduce the noise level.
