Remembering the zero position

Other than writing it down after I jog to start a job, does the machine remember?

I just finished a job, but realized I wanted to put a border around it. I can upload a new file based on the previous one, but if I can’t start from the same spot, I’m doomed.

I guess I can develop the habit of taking a screen shot/writing down the coordinates, but doesn’t the machine know?

Thanks.

Yes, zero should be persistent (though a tool may need to be remeasured, depending on CM version and BitSetter being enabled).

great. So where in the UX do I find the “return to zero” command? Because if I upload a new job, won’t it forget? I was going to return to zero, write it down and then re initialize, but maybe I don’t have to do that…

yep I found that.

but C takes me to the center of the machine, and I don’t see anything referencing “zero”

got it! first thing… those coords aren’t universal, they’re related to the zero I set, so I can always go back there by manually jogging.

of course, they don’t tell me how to convert them to the original numbers so I can’t reset if the power goes out etc.

and second, I loaded the new job and didn’t have to reinitialize.

THANK YOU

To get those numbers relative to the machine origin, click on “Machine Position” to toggle to that coordinate system.

They are stored even if the power goes out. They go away when you change the zero our swap a new board.

They do not go away with a new board. They’re stored in the PC, so they go away if you change to a new PC, but the main board does not store anything.
