Has anyone here hacked out a way to get Carbide Motion (or preferably gSender) to send out messages to let the operator know it’s time to change a bit or that the job has finished. I’m usually in the shop while carving but I’d be lying if I told you I never walked out while chips are flying. An alternative would be to hack the Shapeoko controller and do it from there. I was thinking of using NodeRED to manage the alerts. Any ideas?
Rial,
Not monitoring your machine can lead to disaster. Clamping can come loose and things can be thrown around. In wood if the spindle gets caught it can start a fire.
Staying within ear shot is ok you dont have to just sit right in front of your machine but you should be close enough to shut down the machine if necessary.
Leaving the machine running unattended is dangerous and not recommended.
