How do I replace the magnet on the bitsetter V1?
It’s an 11mm diameter, 2mm thick rare earth magnet.
We no longer carry them, and our recommendation is to either fill the recess in w/ a metal impregnated epoxy such as J.B. Weld, or to replace the button:
If you mean BitZero simply cut off the old one and strip the wire and screw on another one. The wire for the BitZero only attaches to ground and completes the circuit when you probe. The original SO3 had a clip but that was subject to falling off. Later machines have a magnet. The magnet will be conductive and complete the ground to make the BitZero when the bit touches the BitZero. A few people have picked the wrong BitZero because there are two, v1 and v2.
V1
V2
The two versions are different heights and operate differently. So be sure you pick the correct one. Both v1 and v2 use a clip/magnet. You can just buy a magnet at Ace Hardware or Amazon. Preferably one with a hole to secure it to the wire with a bolt and nut.
You want a good connection.
