Replace carbide router with Makita

I just replaced the carbide router that came with my Shapeoko pro with a new Makita RT0701C. The makita router does not turn on thru carbide motion. I plugged it in separately from the machine and it does work. I use bit runner and spindle enable. The router I replaced from yesterday worked. I’m at a lose
Any ideas
Thanks
I just plugged the old router in and it started up

You may be running into new ‘safety’ features - if you plug in the router to a live outlet while it’s already turned on, does it activate?

If not, then the router isn’t suitable for the BitRunner.

I just went through a new machine setup and changed the setting for the compact router to the VFD spindle and now the router works.
??? Simple setting made the difference

Makita added a “Safety Feature” If the switch is on with the electricity off, like BitRunner the Makita will not turn on. Their reasoning is if you have a power failure the router wont restart without cycling the power switch.

I found this on a reddit post:

It has an anti-restart switch. If the tool is connected to a power outlet while the switch is in the ON position, it will not start. This way, if there is a power outage while the tool was working and you forget to flick the switch to the OFF position, when the power comes back the router motor would start turning again. The anti-restart feature prevents this from happening. Now, if you use it in a router table, where normally you want to control the router using a conveniently placed external switch, that wouldn’t work. You’d have to use the router’s built-in switch to turn it on and off, which means reaching under the table or what not. You are trading safety for convenience.

So if you can return it and get a slightly older model it will fix the “Safety Feature”.

His last post states that it now works after going through the new machine setup.

My understanding that is only the European RT0702 model — if someone knows of that happening on an RT0701 please post all the details of the unit in question.
