I have a digital image that does not trace well at all. I downloaded GIMP to see if I could adjust the resolution, and I can, but I cant get it saved back to where I can pick it back up in Carbide Create. Anyone know how to do that or have any advise??
Upload the file here?
Where did the original come from? How was it made?
Im not sure how it was created. Its the logo for our Fire Dept. I tried several different avenues and cant get it to convert over. The whole reason I was trying to do this is when I trace it with Carbide Create, it is super choppy and the lines are all over the place.
I used the image you supplied here and traced it. I adjusted the threshold level lower than the default. Change
DISTRICT 2 BULLDOG.c2d (296 KB)
The issues you will have when editing the tracing is everything is in one group.
Here is how I approach it.
Make a copy and place it on a layer work only with the copy you will be using the original to place the edited items in the tracing after you have edited everything.
Ungroup the copy and pick out the single items and work on that until you are satisfied. Save a copy to another layer for the good items then go to the next item. Enlarge the screen it will be easier to pick out and work on the items.
A tip on editing the tracing. Look at the word district, you have the actual letters for the word district but it also traced the background highlights that are in black. You can eliminate the background. the tracing also traces different color shades as another item. Eliminating these will speed up the process.
Save as you go and do it often
It will be a lot of work
Hope this helps.
Thanks a million for your help!! Did you just work on it through Carbide Create or another program?
Carbide Create That’s all I have.
