When doing a VCarve in a pocket, each time a retract is performed, the retract moves above the stock. I would like a checkbox in the VCarve dialog so retracts are above the starting depth instead of above the stock. This would save a lot of time and wasted Z axis motion.

It’s called minimum retraction versus full retraction. It does save a lot of time.
Which would be fine if the Vcarve is far enough away from the sides of the pocket so the Vbit doesn’t contact them
I’ve been doing quite a few Vcarve projects lately. I’ve found that if I can keep my work holding below the top of your stock, usually with the Crush-It clamps, and set the retract height to a bare minimum, that helps. I also increase the plunge rate slightly when selecting my tool. What would really be cool is if you could specify a retract rate, say 2x the plunge rate.

That is correct but I still want the option. I can determine when it a problem versus when it is not…
