Reverse mode a VFD or a Controller Limitation?

I understand the carbide3d spindle/VFD disallows reverse mode operation and spindle speeds below 8000rpm. Is this limitation in VFD parameters/control
board or the controller for the CNC machine itself? If you were to connect another branded spindle to the S5Pro would you be able to use reverse mode or lower speeds?

VFD’s have a lot of variables you can program in. The OEM generally locks in the parameters they want to be used so their product works as advertised. If you bought a VFD off the shelf and figured out how to properly program it you could get lower RPM but with lower RPM you also get lower power at the tool to cut away material. With higher speeds you get greater momentum. The primary idea about RPM is what kind of chip you want to produce. That is a combination of RPM and travel of your machine. You can produce chips or sawdust with the combination of the two.

What application do you think you need a spindle to run in the opposite direction from the OEM programming.

I did a quick search and look at this site just to get an idea of what is required to program a VFD. Not recommending this site for anything other than a quick reference of what is required to program a VFD.

Want to put in a rapidatc tool changer. No cutting, just need low rpm and reverse mode. Can’t program C3Ds VFD so I’m trying to figure out where the limitation lies, in C3Ds VFD or the controller for the CNC.
