I have given up on trying to do inlays for this design. I’m using a 16"x16"x 1.125" solid walnut board and don’t want to have to add it to the firewood stack if I can help it.
Any review ideas would be appreciated before I start it tomorrow.

do you plan on filling anything? (center pocket, numbers, skunk, lines between tracks)
If so, you may want to order your paths in groups & post them out separately.
I would move the outside contour to the end so it’s the last path. This keeps the job nice & rigid for all the other paths.
See the attached image and look at the E. The tool you are using is not going to make the cut in the area between the tips of the E. Where the tool path is in green these are the areas that will be cut … there are no green lines or tool path in this area. Reason being is the 1/4 inch tool is too big for this area. You will need to select a smaller diameter tool to make this cut.
I haven’t looked at everything to see if there is more or something else.
Best suggestion i can give you is test it on cheap material first something like plywood first and just adjust your material thickness on the test and then for the final GOOD material.
Contour tool path 1 cutting the outline should be cut last not second. This could cause a complete failure if the tabs break loose when machining the rest of the project.
Here is another image. The circle in the letter E is .250 diameter which is what you tool diameter is. it is too big for the space. The larger circle below the Letter E is showing the detail that will not be cut for the same reason as above your bit it too big to go into the cut.
The second image is with a 1/8 diameter bit you can see more detail however it adds twice the cutting time to the operation.
The image below with the highlighted box shows an area where the detail wont be as good as the image. the tool is too big for the detail. You may never get it as detailed as you want due to the radius of the curves.
THANK YOU ALL. Excellent input and I will use it all and even try a 1/32 end mill I have for the state outline to see if it can get as much detail as possible.
Frank, You have a great design. I took the liberty to realign some peg holes and numbers etc. I know nothing about cribbage, so you may not want it. Be super careful with the tool paths, I may have messed some up. And use a cheap board for a test cut: walnut is crazy expensive. circle_crib.c2d (1.1 MB)
