I was working on a project. Did the tool change and the router did not spin up with the new tool. Stopped the job. I plugged the router directly into a working all outlet and it still won’t spin up.
I saw on a video that there is spare set of brushes provided with the router. Could this be my brushes if it is not spinning at all?
Anything I should try before I change the brushes?
Just try turning the router spindle by handle - unplugged of course. If it doesn’t move easily by hand, then it’s the bearings. Probably hear/feel the bearings grind.
If the spindle moves readily by hand, then it could be the brushes, switch, speed control. Could be one of the internal crimp connections came loose or a motor winding connection broke off.
So if you’ve got spare brushes, those are easily changed out compared to taking apart the whole router housing & a good place to start.
I would check in with C3D support. If your router is within the warranty period then they’ll probably replace it.
I took the router out of the holder, shook it, turned it on and it noisily fired up. I replaced the brushes. Thank you carbide for including spares! I’m good to go.
