Router won't turn back on

Shapeoko 4 Pro XXL - Ran it all day - turned the router off to switch out the bit and it wouldn’t turn back on. Did I burn it out running for so long? It’s less than a year old.
Thanks for any help.

Probably the brushes. Should have come with an extra set. I had a similar issue

The C3D router has an internal fan that turns while the router is on. So unless it is over 100 degrees F in the shop it is not likely you over heated the router. Plus if you are running dust collection additional air is being sucked in cooling the router. As @Ensalaco suggested pull the brushes out and replace them and likely will fix. Be sure to get more brushes because the brushes need to be replaced periodically. As with all things mechanical/electrical, the more critical the need the more likely to fail.

There is a chance the control board for the variable speed control is the cause.

Or

Do you have a bit runner that may have stopped it from turning on?

I’m on my 3rd set of brushes in less than 6 months. The stock spindle apparently DESTROYS them. TBH they don’t look that worn down.

To put an end to the brush eater, I just picked up the Dewalt (DWP611) as I understood it fit the stock mount but after driving 2 hours to get it it appears that was not accurate as the collar is far to small to accomodate the DWP. FML.

The stock mount on the Shapeoko 3 fits the 69mm DWP611/D26200.

If you have an SO4/Pro then you need the 69mm spindle mount:

There is an insert inside of the collar that you take out if switching to the DeWALT. It took me a few minutes (ok, hours) to figure out that the spacer was in there.

Hope this helps.

William I think the reducer ring only applies to the original router mount for an SO3. The machine in question is a 4XXL so it likely came with a Z-Plus and likely a 66MM router mount when the machine was purchased.

Here is a picture of the SO3 69MM router mount reducer to make a Makita/C3D router work.
