Looking for someone with experience running a laser on the Shapeoko 5 Pro with Lightburn. Need help with settings to use laser. And whether changing those settings is permanent or can be easily switched from laser to CNC?
What type of laser? J-Tech?
Lightburn has macros that change you back and forth between CNC and Laser. Worst case is to run configuration to set everything back to CNC.
This may give you a starting point. Here are instructions for attaching and setting up a J-Tech Photonics laser on a SPXXL.

OPT PLH3D-XT8. Right now my issue seems to be with Lightburn communicating with my CNC. Lightburn had me change some settings and they aren’t correct. Carriage is slamming into to sides and end.
I am running a JTech laser with Lightburn on my Pro 5. When I startup up Lightburn I have a Macro key configured called Use Laser and when I finish in Lightburn I have a Macro key configured to put the settings back into CNC mode. See below:

You probably only need to change the three settings when you go back into CNC mode but I just copied the settings that Carbide Motion sends and included them all.
I had the same issue with the travel being messed up and what I discovered was that a couple of settings needed to be changed in the Device Settings window.
I have a Pro 5 2x2 so I made the workspace 20" x 20" so the laser mounted on the left side of the router bracket wouldn’t hit the left side of the machine.
The other thing that threw me off for a bit was realizing that the X,Y zero location in Lightburn was in the upper right hand corner - not the bottom left like we are used to in CM.
I added a Saved Position setting in the Move menu so that after I Home the machine I can move it to the center of the workspace - which is where I center my design project (Job Origin) using Absolute Coordinates.
After making these changes I can go back and forth between Lightburn and CM with no issues at all.
I just picked up an Opt Lasers PLH3D-XT8, working on getting it installed. Sounds like I’m behind you in process, but good luck!
