S5 Pro x axis jumping on long cuts?

Hi all,

Been testing in my new S5 Pro - all works fine, except I’ve had two cuts now where the x axis seems to ‘jump’ and mess up the cut as it no longer knows where it is, so it starts cutting through the edge of the piece.

The latest one today ended in a broken bit as it cut across my metal hold down clamps.

Is this normal with a ball screw CNC? I was cutting walnut in very small 3d roughing passes (8%), it had.already cut two whole passes for six hours without a problem and it wasn’t at any particularly tricky place, so I’m struggling to see what’s caused the issue…

Clues most welcome!

If it’s unlikely that material removal is great enough to cause ‘skipped steps’ on an axis, then check your wiring harness connectors. Jog the machine around while wiggling the connectors to see if the axis stutters/grinds/stops at all. If you find an intermittenly bad connector, you can try to secure/tie it up in a position that maintains a proper connection & protects it from being strained from anything(like vac hose).
From there you can get a replacement wiring harness through C3D support.
