S5P Ballscrews Pitch

Hi Everyone! Does anyone know the exact length of the ballscrews on the 4x4 machine? I am looking to swap mine out for a steeper pitch (maybe 5mm). I have converted my machine over to a Centroid controller with all closed loop steppers.

While I can’t tell you the exact length, I can tell you that it is not a standard off the shelf length (it’s not a nice number like 1300 or 1350mm). And there are features (shoulders, threads, etc) that you’d need to reverse-engineer and have custom machined for you. Unless you have a big lathe. Basically, there’s no getting around having to take an axis apart and measuring it all yourself.

Bummer. I was hoping this was an off-the-shelf part and assembly. Looks like a whole gantry revision will be required to accept a new screw setup. Is there any particular reason why the ball screw end does not have a bearing and pre-load nut?
