Has anyone seen the youtube video from Studio Z on maintaince ? He puts super lube grease in the bearings instead of oil. Does anyone have thoughts on this. Too me this makes sense, its alot easier to get the grease into the bottom bearings on the Z axis.
Everything which one needs to know about lubrication should be at:

Superlube should only be used on the round rods on a Nomad.
Okay I understand that oil is reccomended for the HR 15 bearing blocks on my SP5 pro. My question is. Is there just 1 grub screw to remove per block for oil or is there 1 per side ( 2 grub screws 1 top and 1 bottom ). I just want to be sure I’m doing it the correct way. A updated video would really help in this. The last maintence video i saw was on a shap 3 I believe.
I’ve been using grease on linear rails for about 6 years now.
Never had an issue. Don’t have dripping oil on my work. I personally don’t inject anything into the bearing blocks. I put some grease on the rails and let the bearings pick up what they need.
Never had an issue with my s3 hdz for the 5 years it ran 50 hours a week. Haven’t had any issues doing this for the 2 years I’ve had my s5.
Mike,
The bearings have a lubrication port on either end of the bearing; they are connected so it doesn’t matter which one you put it in. I took mine apart when they seized up from following C3d’s recommended oil as I mentioned in the video. The bearings have ball bearings in them and should be greased, they are not a bushing so oil will only leak out of them, probably within a week or so. You’ll see oil dripping down the Z axis and onto your work, I did. Oh yeah, especially on the Z axis that is missing the plastic plugs to cover up the bolt holes on the linear rails which screws up the seals on the linear bearings. I ordered those on Amazon 7.5 mm for like $10.
