Saving a design to pull from later

I was wondering is there a way to save a specific design in carbide create to use again in other projects?

For example in the library I can select an arrow to put into any project. If I created something like an arrow is there a way to save it into the library, so I can use it again in another project? Now I know I can create something save it and make changes, but I am wanting specific shapes and designs saved to pull from. I appreciate the help.

Save it in a separate C2D file. You can import a C2D file into another one.

You can even have toolpaths attached and they will come in.

So, it wouldn’t show up in the CC ‘Library’ section (con), but it can have more information, such as toolpaths, attached (pro).

You could also select individual items in a design and then export them as a .svg file.

Do About | Carbide Create | Open Data Directory which will reveal a folder like to:

go into Carbide Create

library

and make a folder with an appropriate name for the designs which you wish to save, e.g., “Tools” (as is shown above).

Export .svg file(s) which you wish to re-use and place in that folder:

(note that the icon will vary based on which application is assigned to open SVG files)

Then launch Carbide Create, open your Library, and find the folder which was created:

which then works to bring in the file(s) in that directory:

Wow! That’s good to know. For those as confused as I initially was, there’s no “Import” function in Carbide Create’s File menu (at least in the Mac version), but you can drag a file from the Finder (Mac again) onto an open CC file and its contents will be added to the existing file.
This is going to be really useful to me.

Import External File is a button:

That works good. What happens after an update?

The files are left in place since they are viewed as part of the preferences/user setup, not of the application proper and will be loaded by the new version when accessing the Library.
