Selecting Vectors

Very simple question that I can’t seem to find the answer to.

Is there a way to select vectors in Carbide Create by dragging over the ones you want instead of individually clicking on them or selecting all the way around the totality of the vectors I want to select?

It seems that I saw this in passing on one of the multitude of videos I’ve watched, but can’t seem to relocate it…or maybe it was just my addled brain :brain: THINKING I saw it somewhere…who knows.

Click-and-drag should do it, but the region you create from that has to cover a vector for it to be selected.

Here I did a Click-and-drag. The Blue is the selection region. Once I release the click, only the circle will be selected.

EDIT - actually, part of the figure can be outside the region, but is has to be very close.

EDIT 2 - Now that I re-read your post, it looks like you already knew this. I think this and the multi-click method are the only ways of doing multiple selection.

I think the convention is click and drag right only selects the entire object included in the selection box. If you click and drag left anything within the box and whatever the box touches is highlighted for selection. I think…. Been a few days since working on a file.

There is a difference for sure.

Oh. My. God.

If you click and drag downwards (either left or right), then you select objects that are completely covered (or just a tiny bit outside the selection region).

If you click and drag upwards (either left or right), you select anything you touch.

Is this mechanism familiar to anyone? How on earth are people supposed to figure this out?

It was mentioned in the Release notes, and it matches how Adobe Illustrator does it if memory serves.

Wow! This looks to be an excellent read top to bottom, not just the part discussing my question. Thanks for the link! I’ll be reading the whole thing soon.

Are there by chance any other “manual” type reads for Carbide Create and/or Carbide Motion?

Fantastic advice as always, Will!

Let me know if you find any typos or if there are any points of confusion or potential points of improvement.

The official text for v5 is:

In addition to the above, there is:

if you have Pro, and for Motion there is:

Will do. Looking forward to reading through these now that I’ve gotten a little bit of a handle on using the CNC.
