Setting Roughing & Detail Passes

There may already be posts about this topic but I can’t find the specific info I am looking for. I am trying to carve out a background to give raised lettering. The “background” is a pocket cut in CC. How do I separate a 1/4" bit to remove the bulk of the pocket, then an 1/8" bit to only need to carve the tight corners/spaces. Obviously, I could use an 1/8" bit for the entire pocket carve but it would take a long time. Any suggestions?

This is known as “rest machining”. Carbide Create doesn’t support it (MeshCAM does).

You can manually offset things so as to set up appropriate toolpaths if desired.
