I’ve owned both the SO3 and the Laser Ink laser since they were offered and have enjoyed using the router for years now.
I even used the laser to do some graphics on prepared barn board when I first learned to use it years ago.
Recently, I came across a task that looked like it was laser suitable and that’s where this “adventure” started.
Having read about Light Burn I downloaded the trial software (could not get ObjectWorks to accept an SVG or DXF file for my project and can’t seem to find support for that software).
Well, Light Burn accepted my drawings but kept faulting out when I tried to do the burn.
After much discussion on the Light Burn forum and several tests AND an extension to my trial period (thank you OZ) I went a different way.
I created my design in Aspire and modified the Gcode to send instructions to the laser (I really was new to Gcode but managed to figure it all out).
The combination of the SO3, the Laser Ink device and my Gcode did work but it has occurred to me now that someone here might have already resolved this issue. After all, a bunch of SO3’s and quite a few Laser Ink lasers (specifically designed for the SO3) were sold.
If you are one of these intrepid souls, I’d really like to hear form you.
I’ll appreciate any input you might share.

Hi Alex,
Did you ever try the Aspire Laser module? https://www.vectric.com/products/laser-module
Well, that seemed like a great possibility but I haven’t been able to get the trial version to do anything yet (I’ll keep at it though.
Thanks for the suggestion though, Gerry.
