I have a shapeoko 3 and I ordered a belt set from carbide 3d. when I received the belt kit that is marked for the shapeoko3 the belts were 15mm wide which is much too wide for my machine. I looked at the shipping label and it says its a belt set for the shapeoko 3. I took calipers to my belts and verified they are 9mm wide. Is there something im missing about this. Can anyone verify what size belts the shapeoko 3 uses and why are mine different. Very troubled and getting behind on jobs.
9mm is correct, something must have gotten mixed up at the shop. Reach out to support and they’ll make it right.
As long as they are 9MM. The 15MM belts are for SO4. Usually the belts are not cut to size so you can cut them to your machine. Use the old belt to help size them. You dont want them excessively long.
When you put the belts on hold the belt retaining clip with a pair of pliers so they dont get torqued over and interfere with the v-wheels when the machine is all the way to the extremes. If you just tighten the bolts the belt tensioner clips will get in the way.
Thank you, I reached out to carbide 3d and they are sending me the correct belts. They were supposed to be 9mm as you advised.
Keep in mind that the Z belt is 6mm. It should come with the kit ready to install.
I took the advice and contacted Carbide 3d to inform them of what happened and they immediately replied back that they were shipping out the correct belts expidited. Such a cool company and great service.
Thanks Carbide 3d
