Shapeoko 3xxl rebuild!

Hello all! Replacing all nuts, screws, and belts on my used Shapeoko. I’ve run into a few questions before I get started. Where do the included screw in the maintenance kit go? They are standard socket cap, all the ones I’ve seen for the wheels are dome cap. Are these for the belt holders? Also the HDnuts in the kit are different than the ones on my machine. Was this a change on later models, or will they work on mine? Just want to get a good understanding before I dive in. Thanks!

The extra hardware is just that, spared in case something is damaged.

Yes, the HD eccentric nuts are a change — a nice one in my experience — and well-worth taking the trouble to swap in for the originals.

Thanks! So for the eccentric nuts, just work them into the holes, very tight fit being normal?

Yes, remove the originals, clean the holes, then insert the new ones (a light film of machine oil may help the fit) — I usually just make sure that they are aligned squarely, then pull them all the way in by tightening the bolt, holding the eccentric nut and ensuring it stays square while I do so.

Machine officially back together and running! the new eccentric nuts fit and worked, the only one that was a snug fit in terms of operation would be the bottom nut for the z drive. It sits directly under the router mount bracket, and the newer nut gets right up on it. For this machine, I used the matchfit system for clamping by Microjig, opting to make the spoilboard with the jig and then mount, rather than cut on the machine.
