I recently purchased a used (unfortunately) shapeoko 4 xxl.
i am having issues with the bit setter not working (light not coming on)
so i purchased a new bit setter and same issue. Also during setup
on the homing screen none of the axis buttons light up even though
the machine will home. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Steve
Where is the BitSetter plugged in?
Photo showing this?
Do you also have a BitZero? Is it touching the ground lead?
Might need to check in to support and see if you can exchange the BitSetter and instead get a new controller.
Nothing wrong with buying used. Ask this guy about his $525 purchase :- ).
I got a used Pro last year and there were definitely some hiccups. The mechanics and frame were practically new, but I had some issues with disconnects and and homing that were generally resolved when I replaced the controller and also some homing switches. A controller can be impacted by misuse more so than the machine and motors.
Hi William
the bitSetter is plugged to the correct spot
I believe .I tried to upload pic but was unsuccessful. Unfortunately, I do not have a BitZero
Sounds like it maybe the controller I will contact support
Really appreciate your help!!
Thank you
Steve
Thank you for responding
I will contact customer support and inquire about a controller
Thanks again
Steve
Hi Steve,
Since the machine homes fine, the controller is working. If both BitSetters do not light up, it is likely a wiring or controller input issue, not the BitSetter itself.
Check that it is plugged into the correct port, inspect the cable for damage, and try the Diagnostics screen in Carbide Motion to see if it registers when pressed.
Also make sure your software/firmware is up to date. If nothing shows in diagnostics, the controller input may be faulty.
