Shapeoko 4 XXL Fails to Initialize

Final finished putting together my Shapeoko 4 XXL but I cannot get it to initialize properly. After going through the steps to send configuration, every time the Z Axis goes down for a bit and says it failed to find the limit switch, so the Homing fails. What am I doing wrong here?

When your z goes the wrong way it is almost always congig. The hdz runs the opposite direction from z-plus and belt z. The hdz is refered to as ballscrew and z-plus as leadscrew. Most new machines come with z-plus.

CM has to be configed as well as the machine. This CM config is accomplished by sending config to Shapeoko.

Connect to Shapeoko but do not initalize. Go to settings and on first tab select machine and z. Go to second tab and uncheck BitZero and automatic spindle control. You can set them up after initalalization completes successfully. Go back to first tab and SEND config. Then initalize.

Are any homing switches stuck on?

Please contact us at support@carbide3d.com and we’ll do our best to get this sorted out w/ you.

I tried this but still did not seem to work.

I just looked and it seems the Z and X are both showing blue on the panel even though they are not red on the actual switch. When you use a wrench to test on the switch lights up red but no change on the panel.

Please take photos of your X- and Z-axis homing switch wiring, including the wiring extensions and the connectors, including at the controller and send it in to support@carbide3d.com — we got a bad batch of wiring extensions which seem to have been included w/ your machines.

Some folks have managed to get things going temporarily by rotating the connectors where necessary to make wiring colour/order match up and using zip ties to secure things.

Ii took the photos and emailed support yesterday. Received a automatic reply that they will answer as soon as possible.

That is what I am thinking as well. I emailed support yesterday as recommended but haven’t heard anything back yet. I am sure it is only a matter of time. Thanks.
