Shapeoko 4 xxl z axis not homing

some times i open carbide motion then connect to cutter then hit button to home it my z axis travels up and just sits there and chatters so power off machine then manually bring z axis down then power up and go through the process and some time it will go through the process and others it will run z axis up to top and chatter
