Shapeoko 5.1 Pro will not initialize. Error Code HM010

How do we trouble shoot this error?

I’d probably reach out to support at support@carbide3d.com

Maybe somebody will help out here in the meantime though :crossed_fingers:

Power up Shapeoko. Connect but do not initialize. Go to Settings and debug. Touch something metal to each homing switch. The state should change. If all the switches work with something metal like a wrench you may just need to move the switch closer to the trigger point.

Were you able home the machine successfully previously? Or is this happening as part of initial assembly?

As noted at:

https://carbide3d.com/hub/faq/error-codes/

Second dual axis limit switch failed to trigger within configured search distance after first. This can only occur on a Shapeoko 5 Pro in a few circumstances:

  • The machine is way out of square the first time homing is attempted. If this is the case, run the initialization routine again to see if the problem goes away. If it does, the machine should now be within tolerance to home successfully in the future.
  • The Y2 limit switch is not connected or malfunctioning.

We have a page on troubleshooting homing:

https://carbide3d.com/hub/docs/troubleshooting-homing/

Check that the machine was assembled squarely.

For the two Y-axis homing switches, they can be tested while running the Setup Wizard:

https://carbide3d.com/hub/docs/shapeoko-setup/

If one isn’t working, replace it w/ the spare.

If the above doesn’t help, let the folks at support@carbide3d.com know, and let them know what you have done thus far.

Yes, it’s the Y2 switch. Thanks guys, We asked ChatGPT and that’s exactly what it was. It is intermittently working. So we are going to adjust it for now. We were sent an extra one with the machine.
