Shapeoko 5 Pro Enclosure

Figured I would pop in over here and share the almost complete build of my enclosure for my 5 pro. Hopefully this can spark some ideas and inspiration for anyone else looking to build an enclosure for their machine. I still have some more work to do in regards to managing the electronics and fabricating a bin for chip collection, but it is now in a state where the machine is usable.

The base of the enclosure is made from 2x2 steel tubes. It is fitted with a aluminum chip collection funnel. The machine is sitting on a bed of 1x1 tubes. The enclosure at the top is an Open Builds 1010 that I modified to fit my dimensions. The walls are HDPE sheeting and the windows are polycarbonate.

As for the machine and electronics side. I am running a home brewed 220v 2.2kw spindle with chiller. I found these touchscreen monitors to be exactly what I wanted vs a Pi or surface type computer. I am running a cheap Lenovo think station with gSender as my controller software.

Overall the enclosure and base took me around 5 weeks to design and fabricate. Still have a bit more to go, but the machine is finally usable.

Hopefully this inspires some more awesome enclosure builds.

Great build, thanks sharing the outcome. Should be a very productive platform, please show us some of the output when you can.

The best thing about your enclosure is the American Flag proudly displayed above it. Although your enclosure is nice the flag is the cherry on top. :us:

Very nice setup! A well thought out build…

This how I did mine…
