Good Afternoon, just recently purchased a 1200w spindle and was trying to reset the CNC parameters when i ran into some issues.
When initialization the CNC. The left side moves forward and the right moves backwards. The sound is terrible.
All other axis work fine (z and x axis). But the y axis is the current issue.
With the machine off i can move the y axis freely, so no jamming.
I dont recall unplugging any of the homing switches or stepper motors. Could it be a software issue?
The software which moves the machine, Grbl doesn’t get changed when the spindle is configured in such a way that movement would be affected.
Check that no wiring connectors were disturbed in the course of doing the spindle install?
Nothing was unplugged from the main harness.
I only opened the drag chain and inserted the wire for the spindle.
But when i went to set it up like a new machine and initialize it the y axis motors were going in different directions.
Is there a way for me to reset the whole unit?
Re-running the Setup Wizard should do that:
https://my.carbide3d.com/docs/shapeoko-setup/
As a test, power down, remove both Y-axis belts and put a bit of tape on the pulleys, then try initializing — it should home Z-axis as normal, then try moving X- and Y-axes, and the X-axis should home as normal, while the Y-axis motors should turn until they time out.
