I have been using my beloved Shapeoko 5 for a year now. Today I initialized the machine, set up the stock, set the Z to zero: however instead of lightly touching the bitsetter and retracting, it slammed the bitsetter with the motor struggling. I stopped, reset the machine but the problem persists.
I happened once a few months ago but the issue just went away. Not this time. What could cause this? Anyone?
I would think the button on the BitSetter is not working. You can push the button down manually to see if the light comes on.

How is it connected?
If you power up, connect, go to Settings | Debug and press the button does it show as a Probe input?

Thanks guys for the prompt answer: in fact I just resolved the issue invertentedly like this: I thought maybe the Z gap between the current Z and the bitsetter Z was too large (100 mm or so). so I brought the machine down to a lower Z, pushed the zero Z and the bitsetter worked. Must be some coding issue, that would deserve a fix in the next CM update.
