Shapeoko Maintenance

As a car needs to be maintained, the machine also needs maintenance. The maintenance schedule for the car is in the manual, but how do you guys maintain the Shapeoko?

(This is building on this post: http://community.carbide3d.com/t/oiling-or-greasing/7272 +

For instance (these are just examples, I don’t actually follow this):

Vacuuming - every use
General cleaning (isopropyl alcohol on external parts) - every 2 months
Change V wheels - every year
Tightening belts - every 3 months
Change belts - every year
Tighten eccentrics - every month
Tighten all nuts - every 2 months
Change eccentrics - every year
Router - change brushes every 6 months

There’s a section on maintenance at: https://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/Operating_Checklist

I’d say that most of our timeframes are far too frequent (aside from vacuuming — just right, and general cleaning — not often enough, and I’d be careful of the alcohol on/near the neoprene belts)

Most of it would be best phrased “as needed”, and one should check things before / after each use. Brush changes for the router ought to be phrased as per hours of operation w/ a range based on average speed — probably it comes down to # of rotations if someone is willing to do the math.

The maintenance kit ought to have pretty much everything one needs to rebuild a machine to like new.
