Shapeoko Pro Depth Issue

I am very new and trying to complete my first try. I setup the machine as stated and zeroed X, Y & Z. X & Y work fine Z seems to keep cutting at least 5 mm to deep. I assume it is with the inital setup but before I dig into my bed anymore can some tell me if they have experienced this before?

Thanks Patrick

Which Z-axis does your machine have? Could it be that you have a Z-Plus but configured for an HDZ? If so, re-configure:

https://carbide3d.com/hub/docs/shapeoko-setup/

If that’s not it, it’s a mis-match between Job Setup:

https://carbide3d.com/hub/courses/create/job-setup/

and how you are setting zero relative to the stock:

https://carbide3d.com/hub/courses/running-shapeoko/movements-zeroing/

If you continue to have difficulties, upload the .c2d file and let us know step-by-step how you are securing your stock and setting zero relative to it and managing all tool changes and upload a photo showing the machine at the zero position (or a specified offset from that position) and screengrabs showing what Carbide Motion shows for Position and Machine Position (click to toggle those twain).

Sorry to sound stupid here but how do you tell the difference?

If you paid extra for an HDZ and installed it, that’s what you have, otherwise, you have a Z-Plus.

The HDZ has a ball-screw and coupler and a black and silver motor, the Z-Plus an integrated lead-screw and all-black motor.

This is what I purchased:
|SPRO-XXL|Shapeoko Pro CNC Router - XXL Size|1|

|C3D-ROUTER-120|Carbide Compact Router|

Thats the problem then I am setting this machine to HDZ so I will re-due the setup. Thanks a lot.
