Shapeoko Pro out of alignment?

On the Carbide Motion screen, I click on the Initialize button. The bit will move to the far right side of the table and start to shake violently and make a loud noise. I have a video that shows it, but this website won’t allow me to upload it.

What can I do to fix this?

Thanks a bunch!

Sounds like one of your limit switches is not working properly.

Try holding a wrench next to each to see if the red light comes on. If not check the wiring.

Check in with support@carbide3d.com

Possible causes:

  • failed homing switch
  • maladjusted homing switch
  • dirt or debris on homing switch
  • mechanical interference keeping the machine from reaching a homing switch

Had the exact same thing. The issue is that Carbide 3D uses Molex connectors, which are not designed to be in a system that has movement. Even if the movement is small. But they are cheap, so…

In my case, support was very responsive and sent new parts. In the end, even though there are “proper” moving parts connectors available, if it happens again, I will probably just solder the offending connections. It is not like the sensor itself fails very often.
