Shapeoko Pro XXL cut through middle of the part

Picture and GCODE attached.
About 90% into this 2 hour carving of the Last Supper scene, when the cutting noise changed abruptly because the bit started to cut deep right in the middle of the stock. It’s like the machine shifted its sense of what the original coordinates were.

I ran the Fusion 360 simulation several times and even ran the GCODE through an online viewer. Everything looks clean and as expected.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Many times this is because long into the run, your machine ran into work-holding and lost steps. Is it possible that any part of the machine (including the dust collection boot!) could have run into something?

That was the problem…
On one of the work-holding screws, I used a spacer that was barely thick enough to keep the screw head at just the right (wrong) height so that the dust collector could hit it. I learned something today.

Thank you so much!
