Shapeoko will not initialize

Hello,

Just picked up a Shapeoko XXL a few days ago. Made up a quick text in Carbide Create, saved it as Gcode and was hoping to try out the simple project tonight. Opened Carbide Motion, loaded the code and hit initialize and the machine tried to raise the Z axis and that is where it stops. Motor sounds like its grinding. I checked and all 3 limit switches blink blue at power up and while pressing them the blue lights illuminate accordingly.

One thing I did notice was the Z axis while raising during initializing does not come in contact with the limit switch, looks like around a 1/4" away. It is in the correct spot, I did look into that.

Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks in advance

Something is physically preventing the Z from reaching its switch. Can you, with the machine off, move it by hand to solve that?
A few pictures might help.

Looking down from the top it looks like one of the pulleys they belt loops around is hitting a bolt head, i move the router up and down manually and I’m 99% sure that is the issue. Is the belt routed wrong?

Please contact us at support@carbid3d.com and we’ll do our best to work through this with you.

That fixed pulley should be (used to be) right on the X carriage. Does yours have a spacer?

has a spacer, is it not suppose to, here’s a pic of underside shooting up

Another pic, I’m hitting that bottom left motor mount bolt of X axis motor

At first glance it looked like you have a 9mm pulley instead of the one for 6mm belts.

Was just typing the same as @Vince.Fab.
That fixed pulley should be smaller. Do you have a spare?
It’s also backwards…the thin side should be against the plate.

Got this just now from a machine I’m building at work.

Ok that makes perfect sense. I don’t have a spare, bought the machine as is from a guy. But after looking at it i bet that’s my issue.

I sure appreciate the help, i will report back once i get the correct size on

noticed that the Z drive motor pulley was smaller, so I switched them and it works perfect now. Appreciate the responses all. Now to start on some projects
