Hi folks.
Recently my old laptop that was used for my CNC died. I replaced it with a newer but still an old laptop but the new laptop does not find my CNC. When i connect the cable the software is unable to find the usb port. The usb port on the PC is working (it will recognize a hard drive) but not recognize the CNC. I have replaced the usb cable between the PC and CNC but still no luck.
My fear is the controller board on the CNC probably died at the same time as the old laptop but my hope is someone here can provide some additional troubleshooting tips to get my machine back up and running.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
Dave
Talk to support@carbide3d.com. Just as a guess if the hard drive is recognized I would think that your drivers for the Shapeoko are not loaded or corrupt. So start with uninstalling CM and reinstall. Another trick is when you install right click the install icon and install for all users. It could be a permission problem.
Ah! Silly me. I forgot about the drivers. I have been running a different program than CM for years and forgot about the drivers. Once i loaded them the programed worked. Thanks for the kick in the head. It was driving (pun intended) me crazy.
Thanks!
