The first thing I put on my new slatwall, behind my ShapeOko CNC, is a shop-vac. Suspended about 6 ft up, it turns on automatically when the CNC router turns on.
The shelf itself was made with 1/2 inch shop plywood, and box joints for strength. From this vantage you can see the box joints.

This is a strong but lightweight shelf, built to hold the shop-vac.
It is suspended off my garage slat-wall, using two brackets, but could be hung directly to the wall, screwed through the side into studs.
